It
was exciting when Joey Boots made that very first pilgramage
and it was great when, in between radio show interviews, Jim
Florentine did the same, YAAY!!, but nothing can compare to
yesterday (7-27-2004) when the one and only Beetlejuice paid
a visit to the shrine. I had met Beetlejuice once before and
was really anxious to show him the shrine but this event quickly
turned into a family affair as my wife and boys, sister-in-law
and her son, all wanted to meet the legend. When I heard on
the radio that Beetle was headed this way for an appearance,
I emailed his manager, Sean Rooney, to see if they wanted
to make a quick stop to see the shrine before heading into
the big city. Sounds like a plan wrote back Sean, here is
my cell phone number. Call around 5 and if we aren’t
running behind schedule we will stop. We kept busy all that
day preparing for their visit, keeping our fingers crossed,
waiting in anticipation to call, and hoping that things would
go as planned. "Hey Doc, this is Sean, we are about 40
minutes away from you. See you soon!!!!!!!!" AWESOME!!!!!

It
was quite a thrill for me and the boys when they finally pulled
in at the turnpike exit, Beetle, shades and black jacket on,
calmly sitting in the passenger seat. Haha Quite the sight.
We led them on the short trip to my office where the Heinkens,
the Budweisers, pizza, and rest of the family awaited. What
can you say about Beetlejuice that hasn’t already been
said. He is just fun being around. I gave him a tour of the
shrine. He liked pushing the buttons on the talking frames.
We got him on the Kendra Jade one that plays just fart noises.
(Butt Billionaire, get it?) He didn’t recognize everyone’s
picture including Hank’s or his own for that matter
but one caught his eye. One he particularly liked: Bridget
the Midget. Seems he has a thing for her. Hey Howard, how
about you hook these two up? |

| It
was really great seeing Beetle again but it was also cool
to finally meet the man behind the legend, Sean Rooney, and
the man behind the wheel, Limo Mike. Two super guys. They
stayed for an hour signing autographs, taking pics, having
a few slices and a few cold ones. Beetle even got a massage
from one of our massage therapists. It was then that I got
to take a good look at the praying hands tattoo on his back.
He proudly told me he drew that one himself. Nice work. A
few more pics and then they were off to finish their journey.
On to another appearance, another city, more autographs to
sign, more pictures to take with their fans. Overall, it was
a fun time had by all. We even got the Beetlejuice thumbs
up stamp of approval. You guys are always welcomed here anytime
you are in the neighborhood. Thanks so much for stopping.
I might even get the dad of the year award for this one. haha

HowardShrine:
The greatest tribute to Howard Stern and the show and not
too bad of a rest stop either.
Hey Artie, Rev Bob, and any other Stern show celebrity passing
through, take a break from the road and stop on by. We’ll
leave the light on for ya.
