Ladies and Gentleman the Future of Canadian Music.
- It shows you what I know about the Canadian Public, I had Koz in my top 4 and he’s gone. Both Francophone girls are gone…..Wow, Ashley Coles and Alyssa Klazak were both miles worse than both of those girls, although Anne-Belle was pretty putrid. Nathan Brown was awful and I called that one. It’s just weird because Chris LaBelle was so bad that I thought there was no way that he was going to last this week. Unbelivable.
- I am really digging Ben and the Judges more than Ryan and the AI judges. There is actual constructive criticism coming from them and not the patented “I wasn’t feeling that one”, or “you are really in your element” comments, that really helps someone, when they know why they sucked and outside of Ben telling every contestant that they sounded good, I like the job that he does. He’s more than 3 feet tall and has a good announcer’s voice. I like that.
- The Piano only accompaniment thing is still annoying to me, because it seems like extended auditions.
So on to the Power Rankings

I woke up in love this morning?
The Dudes:
- Craig Sharpe – The dude can sing, he really can. Who cares if he is chock full of female hormones? The guy tore it up last week and as long as he doesn’t sing “Come to my window” this week, I got no problem with him. He needs to change the pseudo-mullet though.
- Chad Doucette – The guy has a nice voice, picked a great song last week and even the Lovely V commented to me that she thought he was nice looking. If he can keep his material straight (pun fully intended) he should make it to the top 10.
- Greg Neufeld – Great look, decent voice and lumberjack type appeal keeps this guy in the top 10 area. He’s not great, but people like him.
- Rob James – Canadian’s don’t like him, he ended up in the bottom 4 with Sheldon, Nathan and Koz last week….I was perplexed, he is very talented, but I think that they feel like he is stealing heat from the amateurs in the competition, although, if he qualified for the competition, what is the big deal. He is probably going to get hurt by the McMasters and James thing though.
- Keith MacPherson – I actually like Tyler Lewis a little better than Keith, but Keith is a little more refined as a performer, so he get’s the 5th place nod for me. Keith is blah to me, even though he’s been pimped as having this great personality. What do I know though? I had Koz in my top 4 last week….
- Tyler Lewis – My personal dark horse of the competition. He has potential. He is good looking and showed something to me last week when he was singing the chorus of “Here without you” I heard a presence and sound from him, that told me, with some work, he could do this thing. Make no mistake about it, he needs tons of work, is it too late? Maybe, but I see something.
- Brandon Jones – Argh, he was bad last week and I wouldn’t vote for him with my cousin Kimmy’s vote. Brandon needs to lose the baseball cap and that whole Abercrombie and Fitch gimmick before I even start considering his performances. His voice was airy and he started “Lady” alright, but took it right in the toilet with ridiculous vocalizations and awful phrasing. Again, I think he is full of himself and won’t change a thing about his performance, so there’s no sense making recommendations for his goofy ass.
- Sheldon Elter – Kid needs to change his wardrobe and his material, before I even consider paying attention to him. I will give him points for trying to do something different, but for fecks sake, you have to do something good, that performance of whatever song that was…was really super bad. He’s not long for this competition unless he figures out what he CAN do.
- Chris LaBelle – Absolute Bollocks. The worst I have ever seen on TV including the gong show and I grew up on that stuff. I can’t even comment on what he needs to change, because he needs to change so freaking much. But, starting with the goofy Mohawk is a step in the right direction. I mean come on, if you are going to have a Mohawk, sing something cool…not “Walking in Memphis” (Which he sang at the auditions, by the way).

Raaaawwwk…Alone
The Gals
1. Craig Sharpe – Just Kidding……
- Eva Avila – A beautiful girl, with a beautiful voice and picked a great song. I have no criticism of her other than that. She is a definite top 10er if she can keep it together.
- Nancy Silverman – This may be an anomaly, but she was really flippin’ good last week, and outside of the silly crap she was doing with her arms, which needs to stop. She shouldn’t change a thing, an honest performance from a girl who made herself sexier with the way she performed. Wow.
- Ashley Coulter – She is a cute little pixie and as long as she doesn’t wear torn up jeans with a dress again, I have no problems with her. I would see her sing in a bar too.
- Sarah Loverock – Another girl who needs to be more conscious of her wardrobe. Sang beautiful, but the HIDEOUS black and white striped flashdance sweater she wore HAS TO GO. Other than that, she is poor man’s Kat McPhee.
- Alisha Nauth – She is pretty and has a nice voice. She will be a top 10er, but she needs to watch her material as well.
- Kati Durst – She could suffer from material problems. Nice enough voice, but needs to watch her runs and over-vocalizations. She also needs to sing something that will make her interesting.
- Steffi D – Okay, vocally she’s not that bad. My problem with her is the facts that like David Radford from AI season 5; people will get sick of the crappy crooning garbage. It only gets over at Century Village and the Jewish Community Center. Everywhere else and ESPECIALLY on a pop music TV show it really doesn’t belong.
- Alyssa Klazak – I don’t care if her goofy butt is in love with that artsy-fartsy 1989 guy with the dark glasses and the silly goatee or not. Her performance was garbage. The dress she wore made her look like a fortune teller at the psychic fair and her hair looked like it needed to be washed. Her makeup was bad too. I can’t help people that want to look like dirtbags and can’t sing either.
- Ashley Coles – She was sooooo much worse than the 2 Francophones, it’s not even funny, I can’t do anything for her screeching butt. Hopefully she sings a short song with nothing in the upper register, or my ears will bleed.
Well there you have it….The Top 18 CI Power rankings for this week. And how was your weekend?
