Baron Von Raschke

Pro Wrestling Legend

Dean S. Planet: At one point you were the most hated wrestler in the sport. Did you
ever get any threats from fans outside of the ring?
Baron Von Raschke: Occasionally, nothing I couldn't handle.
Dean S. Planet: Do you watch the wrestling of today?
Baron Von Raschke: No, I do not.
Dean S. Planet: Any thoughts on Vince McMahon and his purchase of WCW, his only
competition?
Baron Von Raschke: Ted Turner got the best of that deal.
Dean S. Planet: Who do you feel is the greatest wrestler of all time?

Baron Von Raschke: Whoever you, as a fan, think is the greatest. There are so many great ones.

Dean S. Planet: What about the greatest tag-team?

Baron Von Raschke: To many, whoever the promoters pushed. Or, whoever they did not push, but still drew big money.

Dean S. Planet: Who was the toughest guy you have faced in your illustrious career?

Baron Von Raschke: Whoever I had for the next match.

Dean S. Planet:
Who do you feel are the most underrated and overrated wrestlers?

Baron Von Raschke
:
A question for your question: Who is underrating or overrating these wrestlers. Wrestlers are just wrestlers trying to make a living.

Dean S. Planet: What has been your greatest accomplishment in the sport?
Baron Von Raschke: Staying married and raising two great children. My wife, Mrs. Claw, and I have been married five happy years--out of thirty-seven, not too bad!
Dean S. Planet: What was your favorite town to wrestle in?
Baron Von Raschke: To paraphrase Will Rogers, I never met a town I didn't like.

The Crusher and The Claw --AWA Tag Team Champs!
Dean S. Planet: You often toured Japan, how do their wrestling fans compare to ours?

Baron Von Raschke: The Japanese appreciate good, close work that has a sensible story line. They used to quietly watch the matches, and applaud only at the very end of the match. Most of us Westerners were not used to the silence while we were wrestling.
Dean S. Planet: Why do you feel that the use of "the claw" hold has disappeared?
Baron Von Raschke: Everyone is too busy flying faster and further in the ring, thinking
that is how to get a match over. You have to be a good storyteller and
patient to make the Claw work for you effectively.
Dean S. Planet: Who came up with that finisher for you?

Baron Von Raschke: Former world champion and great wrestler Pat O'Conner.

Dean S. Planet: What was it like to have a video game character of you made for Legends
of Wrestling ll? Have you played the game?

Baron Von Raschke: I have not played the game or seen the finished product. Akklaim has
not been an easy company to deal with, so I am frustrated with them.

Dean S. Planet: There were also some Baron action figures made, do you have boxes filled with them in your attic or basement?

Baron Von Raschke: Actually, we have the limited second edition Baron Action Figures for sale on our web site: http://www.baronvonraschke.com. The original AWA action figure sold out, and I do not have any of those.

Dean S. Planet: Do you still get recognized on the street?

Baron Von Raschke: Yes.

Dean S. Planet: Thanks Baron, I am a huge fan.
