Pro Wrestling Legend

Dean S. Planet: How have you been Mr. Vachon?
The Butcher: Thanks for Asking I am recovering nicely from 35 radiation treatments for throat cancer. I lost some weight but still have my hair --- Ha!
Dean S. Planet: How did you get the nickname "The Butcher"?
The Butcher: Mad Dog gave me that name in 1966. I was originally "The Butcher of Paris"
Dean S. Planet: Who was the greatest AWA champ of all time?
The Butcher: My Brother Mad Dog, of course!
Dean S. Planet: Who is the toughest guy you ever faced?
The Butcher: Andre The Giant.
Dean S. Planet: What was it like to wrestle Andre?
The Butcher: Andre' possessed super human strength. He truly enjoyed working in the ring. He could easily have hurt anyone, but he was kind and careful.

Dean S. Planet: What is your take on the recent rash of pro wrestler deaths?

The Butcher: It is a tragic shame, but there is no one to blame but themselves. If you play with fire, (drugs) eventually you will get burned.

Dean S. Planet: What is your single greatest wrestling memory?

The Butcher: Taking the tag team Championship from Dick The Bruiser and Crusher in Chicago. Also, wrestling in Karachi, Pakistan soccer stadium in 1963 to a record crowd of 85,000 fans.

Dean S. Planet: Did you get to keep any of your various title belts?

The Butcher: No.

Dean S. Planet: How is Luna?
The Butcher: I do not see Luna often as she travels alot on the Indy scene.

Dean S. Planet: Is she still married to Vampire Warrior (Gangrel)?
The Butcher: Yes she is still married to Dave Heath AKA Gangrel.
Dean S. Planet: Did you give her any special advice before she began her pro wrestling career?
"If you play with fire, (drugs)
eventually you will get burned."
The Butcher: I did help train Luna, but she patterned her style after her Uncle Mad Dog.
Dean S. Planet: Is there too much sex involved in modern day wrestling?
The Butcher: Yes defiantly It is no longer Family Entertainment.
Dean S. Planet: Who is currently your favorite wrestler?
The Butcher: Goldberg.

Dean S. Planet: Who was the better WWF champ, Bruno or Hogan?
The Butcher: Bruno was a better worker without a gimmick, but Hogan had more charisma and marketability.
Dean S. Planet: Who came up with the idea for the wedding on the WWF's TNT show?
The Butcher: It was Vince's idea, and the gal I "married" was an actress who I had never met before.
Dean S. Planet: What are your thoughts on Vince and the direction he is taking the WWE?
The Butcher: Vince is a very smart business man but I an extremely disappointed with his sleazy angles.
Dean S. Planet: What is the Cauliflower Alley Club? When did you become a member?
"Vince is a very smart business man"
The Butcher: Cauliflower Alley Club is a fraternal organization of wrestlers boxers stunt persons and fans. Both Maurice and I have been members since it was founded in the 1960's by Iron Mike Mazurky. It was originally just a small group of us who met in the back room of a restaurant in California. We would use the Alley Way to enter for our private meeting. Mike Mazurky was well known in wrestling and movies for his distinguishable cauliflower ear.
Dean S. Planet: Will you be attending the reunion in Vegas in April?
The Butcher: I am defiantly looking forward to it.

Dean S. Planet: Do you think anyone can compete on your level in Cribbage?
The Butcher: Last year CAC had their first annual Cribbage championship and I won the Title. I challenge anyone who would like to compete. I have been playing over 40 years.
Dean S. Planet: What are your experiences with the healing power of magnets?
The Butcher: As a pro wrestler for 32 years with over 6000 matches I have gotten many aches and pains. The therapeutic magnets help me greatly, without any bad side effects or costly medications. I was introduced to them by a healer in India (you can read about that in my book "When Wrestling Was Real". ) I have been using them ever since and swear they keep me going. I sell them on my website www.ButcherVachonMagnetsPlus.com and at various fairs and festivals around the country. Many people return to tell me how they too were helped with pains that medications could not help.
Dean S. Planet: Is there anything you would like to tell your many fans?
The Butcher: I am always honored when a fan remembers me and am truly glad that I have brought some memories to them.
