Craig Gass

Dean S. Planet: What's new?
Craig Gass: Taping a "Young Comedians Special" for National Lampoon tonight (8/27/03) in Los Angeles. Hoping I'm funny for it. Made my return to The Howard Stern Show last week...
Dean S. Planet: Kim Catrall: Hot in person?
Craig Gass: Very hot.
Dean S. Planet: Are you working on any new impersonations?
Craig Gass: Yeah, you'll be hearing them soon on Howard.
Dean S. Planet: What method do you employ when developing an impersonation?
Craig Gass: No, I've always just done it. I never work on anything. My family is deaf (not a joke, that's actually true) and growing up in that family I couldn't learn how to speak from my own family, so I learned how to talk by copying all the voices I heard on television. The weirder the voice the easier it is for me to do. And yes, I realize that's a weird story...
Dean S. Planet: Any advice for aspiring comics?
Craig Gass: Perform anywhere and everywhere. I still go to every open mic I can find. I just saw Chris Rock, David Spade, and Jon Loivitz come into a comedy club unannounced on Thursday looking for stage time. That burning never goes away.
Dean S. Planet: Who do you feel is the greatest impressionist OF ALL TIME!!?
Craig Gass: Eddie Murphy. Bad ass mother fucker.
Dean S. Planet: I personally love your Gary "Baba Booey" Dell'abate impersonation. Can you do Howard or anyone else from the show?
Craig Gass: I get told ALL THE TIME that my Gary impression is solid and that Howard is crazy. He's The King, what are ya gonna do? I do a half-assed impression of Stuttering John and K.C. too, but it's the same schticky one everyone else does.
Dean S. Planet: While sitting in on the Stern Show a couple years ago you "fell asleep" due to being sick. Was this just a bit?
Craig Gass: No, I got sick in Philly the weekend before and I felt light headed, bad fever... tried to rest during a commercial break, woke up as the biggest dickhead in radio.
Dean S. Planet: You have banged a ton of Howard's interns. What is your secret?
Craig Gass: The secret I need to know is how to get them to not tell everyone about it. Let's see what other shit surfaces....
Dean S. Planet: Why were you banned from the City of Kent, WA?
Craig Gass: For doing an unusually profane show at a nightclub there. The banishment was not from anyone official, just a club owner. My banishment from Santa Rosa, CA, however, actually came from the mayor. Same reason. Very cool.
Dean S. Planet: Who are your comedic influences?
Craig Gass: George Carlin, Richard Pryor.
Dean S. Planet: Who is the most overrated comedian?
Craig Gass: Jerry Seinfeld. He fucked up funny for a long time. Everyone wanted to be like him for years, observational and mildly amusing. FUCK THAT.
Dean S. Planet: Who is underrated?
Craig Gass: Richard Jeni should be huge, so should Brian Regan, Jeff Ross... get ready for Dane Cook to take over.
Dean S. Planet: Do you still meet Ed Torian (polygraph guy) for lunch once a week?
Craig Gass: Yes, I see him every day. He fingered me on Monday.
