DP Celebs / Interviews
From The Howard Stern Show

J.D. Harmeyer

Dean: Were you a big Stern fan before you began interning on the show?
JD: I was. Living in Ohio, I didn't get to hear much of him, I first saw him on the MTV Awards as Fartman. But when I moved to Florida in '92, we found the show on an Orlando station and been a fan ever since.
Dean: What was it like meeting the big guy for the first time? Were you nervous?

JD: Of course I was nervous, but i'm just a nervous person overall when meeting people I don't know.

Dean: How long did you intern for the Stern Show?

JD: A semester and a half and then I was hired full-time

Dean: Did you anticipate getting hired permanently while interning?

JD: Not while I was doing the regular intern stuff, but when I got the TIVO internship, I was hoping there would be a glimmer of a chance of getting hired to do that full-time.

Dean:You graduated college with a degree in film, do you still have those aspirations?

JD: Of course.

Dean: What would you be doing if you never starting working for the show?

JD: I have no idea. Possibly editing. But I had two internship interviews at film companies before the Stern internship and I didn't get either of those so I really have no idea.

Dean: Do you remember the first time you stepped from behind the scenes to actually being a regular part
of the show?
JD: I remember the first time being on the show. It was involving Scores girls and going to a strip club for the first time. I was nervous and didn't look my best (not that I look that great now). It was awesome though and I'll never forget my first time at Scores.
Dean: What would you say is the coolest part of your job?
JD: Just being able to contribute to a show I've loved forever is awesome.
Dean: Are you still listening to a lot of techno? And what exactly do you like about that genre of music?
JD: I do listen to techno every now and then when it comes up on my Ipod. There's something weird and creepy with that type of music that I dig it. But i'm also a big metal and hardcore rap fan as well.
Dean: Who do you think is funnier and more talented.. Sal or Richard?
JD: Neither
Dean: Who is your favorite Wack Packer and why?
JD: Beetlejuice, he's just one of a kind.
Dean: Who is your least favorite and why?
JD: Bob Levy
Dean: Do you think Artie will leave the show? Do think that is a good or bad idea?
JD: I don't think he'll leave the show anytime soon, but if he does, I would totally understand why and hope everything works out for him.
Dean: What is the status on your relationship with porn star Kimberly Kane?
JD: We're friends. We talk every now and then.
Dean: Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?

JD: Who knows. I never would have expected to be working for the Howard Stern show ten years ago.
