Season 1 American Idol Superstar!!

Ryan Starr
12-23-07
|
Dean: You started singing at a very young age. Do you remember the first song you loved to sing?
Ryan: I started singing at 7 in the 3rd grade. the first song I ever sang was " the foot bones connected to the knee bone...." but the first time I ever sang alone (solo) on stage was in the 6th grade. I think I was eleven. it was for a christmas show and the song was " o holy night" to this day the song still remains very very important to me because it was the song that made me realize I was a singer. I got a standing ovation and that was it for me. I knew.
Dean: Why do you think there aren't many popular female rockers out there today?
Ryan: I think that there aren't very many female rockers out there today because the rock world is very male dominated. the females out there today are all trying to be something there not. I sing rock but I sing female rock. I sing like a girl and I write from a female point. not a mans point. this being said I was heavily influenced by male singers all my life (steven tyler, steve perry, david bowie, joe cocker etc...)
Dean: Season 7 of AI is starting up soon. Do you think you will watch?
Ryan: I do not watch american idol. haven't seen a single frame since I was on it. its weird to watch a show you were on.
Dean: What do you think is the reason for Kelly Clarkson's latest album flopping?
Ryan: I didn't know her album had flopped. this is news to me. I think she is an amazing talent and even though its not my favorite cup of tea musically I like her music. its fun and that girl can sing!!!
(editor's note: as of December 07', Kelly's latest album has sold 1.5 million worldwide compared to her last which sold almost 12 million worldwide and
her latest single peaked at 110 on the Billboard Hot 100.)
Dean: Are you currently signed to a label?
Ryan: No I am not currently signed.
Dean: Do you plan on releasing a CD in the near future?
Ryan: I have just started playing out live. that is my main focus right now. I wanna focus on the stage. on performing and my fans and meeting them. I miss the stage.
Dean: Due to your success of the single 'My Religion' on iTUNES, would you consider releasing an entire album exclusively on the Internet? |
Ryan: I have been asked about releasing more music via itunes and I am thinking about pursuing that. nothing confirmed yet but I do like the idea of itunes. god knows I use it like crazy.
Dean: I loved you on the third season of The Surreal Life. Do you have any regrets doing that show?
Ryan: regrets about surreal life?? um I have mixed feeling s about it. I'm not a fan of reality tv so being on that show was a lil strange. it was fun and an experience I will never forget but it was also something I think may have hurt me a lil. its hard to get people to see the artist in you when you lived with flava flav. know what I mean. so regrets .... no. it was fun.
Dean: Do you keep in touch with any cast members?
Ryan: I do. every so often ill see charo or flave. I have kept in touch with jordan and dave the most. they are great guys and it was so fun hanging with them on that crazy show.
Dean: In US Weekly you revealed that you will star in your own reality show. Is that still a go?
Ryan: as for right now on the reality show. I was planning on doing it I even shot the pilot but the powers that be were slowing down the process and I felt the urge to get on stage again so I put it on the back burner.
Dean: Are you still with the band 'Aces' and are there any plans to record with them?
Ryan: I had a group of musicians that I formed a band with and we were gonna call are self "aces" then I realized that leaving my name out would be to hard to gain a fans base so we still play together. they are my band. but we are just called ryan starr. works better that way.

|
Dean: What are some of the current songs in your iPod?
Ryan: on my ipod???? well the first songs that comet o mind are lullaby by the cure, stereophonics, and a ton of french music, I love love french music. french rock and french soul.
Dean: How is your bikini line you are designing coming along? You have some pics of you in a bikini on your Myspace, is that one of your designs?
Ryan: no the pictures I have online are a modeling champaign I did when I was modeling. the swimwear line was taking alllll my focus away from the music. so I left that idea behind. I realized to start as a singer you have to be focused on one single thing and designing is a hobby that went public and singing is my life's passion.
Dean: You always look amazing whether its a tv appearance or walking down the red carpet. How do you keep in such amazing shape?
Ryan: keep in shape??? I am an avid surfer. I live right on the water and in the summer I go alot. as well as I'm on a flag football league and a beach volleyball team, I run almost every other day and singing keeps you pretty fit (especially in your mid section area). I hate the gym. barely go. I am just extremely active. it makes me happy. I have been a jock since I can remember. love it!!!!
Dean: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Ryan: in ten years I hope to be married with children (maybe) and juggling that with my tour schedule and my charity work with abused children.
I want all these things but if I don't get the whole package its okay. I would be happy if in ten years I can just be singing and helping people. that's pretty good right there.
I just wanna help whether it be thru my voice or my work. I'm there. tens years or tomorrow. I'm there.
Happy holidays and be careful on new years guys. It gets pretty wild out there. God knows I'm gonna cut loose.
he he he |
Dean: I'll be careful, thanks Ryan!
