I
have said for years that Puff Daddy is a no talent loser
and with the release of his new song 'DIDDY', he has helped
me plead my case.
From
the opening verse of 'DIDDY', Puffy steals old school lyrics;
"Sometimes I rhyme slow, sometimes I rhyme quick".
This was stolen from the chorus of the 1985 hit 'Sometimes
I Rhyme Slow', originally done by Nice
& Smooth.
Then
the chorus echoes, "Its the D the I the D the D the
Y the D the I the D It's Diddy, (Hold Up) It's Diddy (That's
crazy)". To the average 20 year old hip hop fan, this
may seem like a catchy original chorus, but to rap historians,
this is a blatant rip off of the Boogie Down Production's
song 'J-I-M-M-Y'. The original song was about condoms and
it had the same chorus except Puffy replaced JIMMY with
DIDDY.
Well,
the lyrical ripoffs don't stop there! In the second verse,
Puffy starts with: I came in the door I said it before I
never the ladiez hyptonize me no more". This is a direct
bite from a lyric from Eric
B. And Rakim's 1986 classic 'Eric B. For President'.
The original lyrics were: "I came in the door, I said
it before, I'll never let the mic magnetize me no more".
Can't
he come up with anything original? It's nice to give props
to rap's old school, but Puffy is downright ripping them
off! |
