I
don't quite get the animosity coming from Ashlee Simpson
in her new album and in particular, her latest single Shadow.
Amazingly, most of it is aimed at her older sister and my
personal mistress, the lovely Jessica Simpson. In first
verse of Shadow, she talks about how she was very hurt by
the fact that her parents went away (probably to take Jessica
to an event). She then goes on and whines about how she
was always second best, how she lived in a nightmare, but
its OK now because she has a ton money. She then says that
we are not supposed to feel sorry for her. Huh?
This
broad needs a wake up call. Most of us have seen her life
up close on her MTV reality show (a project she landed thanks
to Jess). Her Mom waits on her hand and foot even to this
day. She should be thanking Jessica every day of her life
because she paid the bills, paid for the maids and housekeepers
and put food on the table for most of her prepubescent years.
Her blood, sweat and tears, single handedly provided Ashlee
with all that she has today. Secondly, I demand that she
dyes her back to blonde to pay tribute to Jessica. Does
she really believe that everything that she so-called overcame
was something that was accomplished on her
own? Has she ever had to struggle and fight for what she
has like so many other artists? Hell, even Britney Spears
deserves her fame more than Ashlee. Brit had more live performances
under her belt by the age of 10 than Ashlee has so far in
her career. Could she have done all this without the help
of her famous multi-platinum selling artist, reality television
star and advertising industry darling sis? Shouldn't her
older sister be the one who has some resentment, after all
those years of singing pukey christian music, fighting
acne and making thousands upon thousands of appearances
just to try to make a name for herself and to slowly build
her audience base?
From
the beginning, Ashlee has faked the angst she attempts to
portray in her music. And her lame Jagged Pill Era-Alanis
Morrisette act on stage during performances is almost
painful to watch. She seems out of place on stage and appears
a bit awkward, especially with her pacing and hand gestures,
as if she is concentrating so hard on not hitting a bad
note, that she doesn't quite know what to do with her body.
I wonder if she has a hard time chewing gum and walking
at the same time. And the whole "PUNK" shirt she
wears during her first video for Pieces of Me,
HA HA. I never thought I would see the day when someone
would want to try to emulate Avril Lavigne, this is a sad
sign of the times. What kind of world do we live in were
two of the biggest artists in music insist they are making
punk music when it's merely mainstream bubble gum pop? How
many more Ramones have to die to end this madness? Speaking
of being transparent, I remember watching her show when
she made the decision to dye her hair and some interviews
she did in support of her debut album. She said things like,
I want my music to be anything close to my sisters. And
it was so obvious that her black mane was also an attempt
to distance her from Jess. Don't people see this stuff?
The fake-ness, the sham? Wake up white people!
damn
shame you wanna change yourself
because you're sick of yourself
well I'm sick of you too, fake
you're a, a counterfeit, fake
you know we figured you out
