I
never thought I would say that. Normally all they would
have on this channel were obscure British mystery shows
or
The Dixie Chicks were back on Oprah the other day, once again crying about the incident that put an end to their career, a slow in record sales and ended their ability to sell concert tickets. Oprah asked them about how they felt, would Natalie have said it what was said again and how they managed to cope with the scrutiny over the years.
It seemed to me that the Chicks still don't understand what happened. They were on top of the world, singing about women killing their spouses and wide open spaces. How could their fans turn their backs on them after all of they have done for them...

I don't care what those smelly holes have to say about world events, politics or social issues but the reason why people hate them is simple... And I'm amazed that nobody has broken this shit down to them.
This is a lesson in why you DON'T FUCK WITH YOUR FANBASE. Country music fans are 90% conservative. In the post 9-11 mayhem, attacking our leader wasn't a good idea. It was misread as an attack on America and the Country music fans who are patriotic, flag loving people got pissed. And to top it off, they talked all this shit in another country! If Natalie really had a set of nuts like acts like she has, speaking those words of criticism right here in the home of the red, white & blue would not have been a problem.
There are plenty of celebs who have criticized America/Bush and still have careers. Sean Penn, Tim Robbins, big boobied Susan Sarandon & Eddie Vedder, just to name a few, have questioned Bush in one way or another and they still have work. They still make movies that people pay their money to see. America didn't burn copies of Bull Durham or destroy copies of "Riot Act". Why? Like I said it's simple. These people did not FUCK WITH THEIR FANBASE. They are all liberals who have peers and fans who share their views and/or respect them. Shit, I have Sean Penn and his radical views but if he makes Fast Times At Ridgemont High: The Adult Years, I'm there dude!!
They would definitely get a large portion of their fans back if they would just make a REAL apology and not on an ass kissing brain dead show like Oprah. If Natalie would just stop acting like a martyr and told her fans that she made a mistake, she will be going platinum again in no time. I would also recommend a written apology to fellow Country artist Toby Keith for criticizing him for criticizing the Dixie Chicks. I guess they only advocate free speech when it involved them.
So to recap, here are the simple reasons why they lost their fans:
- They shit on their fanbase
- They talked shit about Bush in a foreign country
- People don't want to hear a country singer talk politics. Stick to talking about sexy tractors, pickup trucks & achy breaky hearts.
- They never apologized
- Their music sucked anyway
