The Nasty Show @ Caroline's NYC April 1st, 2005
--> The Word Archive

I am a comedy junkie. I used to stay up late as a kid and watch episodes of "An Evening At The Improv" on A&E when there used to be an airing at 11PM, then again at 2AM. So, when I had the opportunity to journey to the big city and see some great comedians at the historic Caroline's Comedy Club on Broadway, I jumped at the chance.
I was also fortunate to be able to meet some people from the Howard Stern Show at the a bar before the show to load up on some booze. I sat in anticipation for about an hour and then Double A (minus his title belts), High Pitch Eric, Angry Black & Irish John all rolled in around 10, the show was at 12:30AM. All these dudes are GREAT guys who were fun to hang with and throw down some drinks. We took some pics, talked about the Stern show, then 1 or 2 Capt'n & Cokes turned into 7 & 8 and before I knew it, the time had come to head down to the show.

I walked into the club and followed the crowd to the one corner of the bar. And there he was... The legendary KC Armstrong formerly of the Howard Stern Show. I introduced myself to him, we shook hands and he said, "glad you could come". Shortly after this celeb encounter, I decided I needed some more spirits. I then ran into the Rev Bob Levy, who it was good to see once again.

A few Amstel Lights later it was time to stumble into the seating area in preparation for a great night of comedy. Luckily, I was able to sit at the same table as my Stern Show buds. It was there that I ran into Zolar, who is good friends with Miss Howard Stern (Andrea Ownbey) and when I asked her whereabouts, he explained that she was down south getting some breast implants. See them here... NICE!!

The show began with High Pitch Eric taking stage, doing some impersonations and eventually introducing our host for the evening, KC Armstrong. Minus his trademark goatee, KC took the stage and right away had the crowd laughing. It seemed as if stand up came naturally to him as he stood up there wearing a matching Indiana State hat & t-shirt. He mentioned that he was in rehab for alcohol as he took a swig from what appeared to be whisky! I was able to take this short clip of his 'Goldschlager' joke... KC's job for tonight was to tell some funnies, then introduce all of the comics. I was feeling pretty good at this point so I can't remember the order and some of the names but here is what I do remember in no particular order...

Shuli Egar - 'Shuli' is a funny dude. He told a lot of pot jokes which are always good with the crowd especially this bunch because as I looked around, I felt as if I was surrounded drug dealers. One funny pot joke in particular dealt with getting stoned and watching documentaries on Cheetas. I don't remember the punch line but at the time it busted my gut. Shuli is a frequent caller and friend of the Stern show so it was cool to put a face to the voice.

Bill Mira - Billy has a variety of great impersonations including Diamond David Lee Roth & Ozzy Osbourne, which you may recognize if you are a Stern fan. He also does a great Deniro which you must see in person to get the whole effect. He was nice enough to do a little Ozzy recording for DeansPlanet.Com a while back. Look for his interview coming soon!
The Reverend Bob Levy - Remember this name folks. The Rev is probably the funniest comic I have seen in person over the years. There was a black fella in the front of the audience who was wearing a funky ass sweater and I was hoping that one of the comics would take notice and pick on the dude. Leave it to Levy, he let the dude have it. If you got the balls, you can chat with the Rev at a message board called King Mega Site where he is a frequent poster.

Yucko The Clown - Yucko's set put an exclamation on the title of the show, THE NASTY SHOW! Yucko, who is part of The Damn Show (friends of DeansPlanet), had people gasping in the audience. The highlight of his set was when he pulled out a huge black dildo and said that Johnny Cochran sent it to him. Brilliant!! You can watch a clip of that joke by clickinghere...

There were three other comics I can't remember their names. Actually, the truth is I never knew their names but I do remember that two of them were pretty funny. The third dude Bombed. Before he could even open his mouth, the tough NYC crowd were letting him have it. He started saying how NYC didn't scare him and how he 'don't give a fuck'. Maybe it was shtick but I remember that he was a wigger and mentioned he just got out of jail. People in the audience were yelling things like, 'say something funny!" At this point he didn't really stand a chance so he removed himself from the stage.

After the show I got a chance to take a ton of pics with all the comics and get my program signed. As I was getting a pic with Yucko, I ran into Waco from The Damn Show. We talked about how cool it was that they got a deal with MTV, something that I predicted years ago when I reviewed their DVD. Check out the evidence here. What can I say? I'm a great judge of talent ;) I then said what's up to Shuli, Billy Mira, The Rev and said how funny they all were. They are all great guys (and funny too).

Then KC came and got me and took me back to the 'green room' which was more like a a room with a sink and shitter. We snapped tons of pics, some with his super gorgeous girlfriend. I even got to watch Yucko take off his makeup which I must admit, was arousing in a strange, clowny kind of way.

My only regret of the night is that I didn't take enough pics or movies. The camera I got is fairly new so I was a bit neurotic about making sure I didn't run out of battery or memory thanks to the 56 pics I took of myself nude in the mirror.

The Nasty Show runs once a month at Caroline's. Check out their website for more information.
