Tom Mabe: A Wake Up Call For Telemarketers Review
--> The Word Archive

Tom Mabe, the original anti-telemarketing phony phone caller, is back with an incredibly funny CD, "A Wake-Up Call for Telemarketers". But this time, Tom goes on the offensive as he messes with the minds of unsuspecting telemarketers.

The best calls from the album are the 6 that were made during a telemarketing convention in Washington DC.  Tom drove up from Louisville and checked into the same hotel as the telemarketers.  Then, when the clock stuck 3AM, he started calling them in their rooms, trying to sell them shit...  We then hear, "Do you know what time it is" and "I don't appreciate being called at this hour", but this time these remarks are coming from the telemarketers not us.

The best call is "Sleeping Pills".  He calls a telemarketing broad in her room and asks,
Sleepy Telemarketer: "Hello..."
Tom:
"Hi this is Tom Mabe from Sleepy Sleep Aids with a special offer a sleeping pill which guarantees a good night's rest mam, how are you doing this evening?"
Sleepy Telemarketer:
"What?"
Tom:
"Mam, do you ever find yourself unable to sleep at night?"
Sleepy Telemarketer:
This is ridiculous, don't call people this early.
Tom:
Mam, its 4AM and your awake, if I could just get your credit card number.
Sleepy Telemarketer:
It's 4 in the BLEEEPING morning, "BLEEEP you"

My other favorite track is Rock-A-Bye- Baby.  Tom calls the unsuspecting telemarketer at 4AM and acts as if he was calling from the front desk.  He asks what time is his wake up call. Then calls back and asks his room number.  The telemarketer gets pissed and says, "I think  this is very unprofessional, I'm going to have trouble going back to sleep as it is.  I have a full day of events tomorrow.  My company's here". But Tom is very unsympathetic.  He calls back once and again and offers an apology and then proceeds to sing a lullaby.  That's where the call ends.

In addition to the classic calls, the hilarity continues as he get to hear some clips from Tom's stand-up act & a new version of the classic Booger Pickin' Man, this time mixed with a funky hip-hop feel.

A Wake-Up Call for Telemarketers" is another classic from Tom Mabe. He continues to make prank call CDs that can be listened to and enjoyed over and over again, never getting old.

And for this, DeansPlanet.Com thanks you Tom.
